Privacy Policy

How Scrub Prep handles information used to provide case preparation, Pimp Me, Rapid Fire, app analytics, and support.

Information We Collect

We collect only what's needed to run the app:

Account information: your email address (for email/password sign-in) or your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email (for Sign in with Apple).
Content you enter: case descriptions you type in, your Pimp Me answers, and any specialty or difficulty selections.
Content the app generates: OR Prep summaries, Pimp Me questions/feedback, and Rapid Fire questions, tied to your account so you can revisit them later.
Basic usage and diagnostic data needed to operate and support the app (e.g. which features were used, and AI usage volume for cost/reliability monitoring).

Speech and AI Processing

Case descriptions and answers you submit are sent to our backend, which uses a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to generate case preparations, questions, and feedback. This content is processed to generate your response and is not used by us to train any AI model.

Please Don't Enter Patient Information

Scrub Prep is not designed to store protected health information (PHI), and the app actively screens case descriptions for obvious identifiers (names, dates of birth, medical record numbers) and asks you to remove them before continuing. Never enter real patient information into Scrub Prep.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Subscriptions are billed and managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment card details. Your subscription status is determined on your device via Apple's StoreKit; we do not independently track or verify it on our servers. See Apple's own privacy policy for how Apple handles payment information.

Data Storage

Your account, saved cases, and Pimp Me sessions are stored on our backend (hosted via Back4App/Parse Server) and transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Data Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate the app: with OpenAI (to generate content from what you type), with Apple (for authentication and subscription processing), and with our backend hosting provider. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Retention

Saved cases and Pimp Me sessions are retained until you delete them individually or delete your account. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the email below.

Your Choices

You can delete any saved case or Pimp Me session directly in the app at any time. You can request full account deletion, or ask questions about your data, by emailing us.

Children's Privacy

Scrub Prep is intended for medical students and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
